How 2 Quit Binge Eating?

A few days ago, I was desperate.  I was upset that once again, I was not able to control my binge eating.  I couldn’t seem to have a regular amount of a food, I had to have so much of it.  And then the cravings.  Uncontrollable.

I googled, how to quit binge eating?  And this one video popped up by Raw Alignment.  She explained that once she stopped eating processed foods, she stopped binge eating.  And so – I immediately realized this is what I must do – once again.

In April 2015, I started the Whole30 diet, and I lost 19lbs.  I went from 165 to 145, and I felt fn amazing.  Like super.  But more than just the weight, I really loved not craving the junk I used to crave, over and over each day any-day.

And so, once the holidays hit, and 6 months after I started Whole30, I started little by little eating junk again.  Then I would re-start Whole30, but the will of the sugar was greater than my will for Whole30.  I kept telling myself it’s fine, and I kept eating.

Well enough is enough – and after watching this video, I’m back on the wagon!  I’m on Day 4 of eating 100% clean, and loving it.  I can actually use December 1st as my start date.  I feel good, and most importantly the cravings are gone.  I also am sleeping better, and I’m waking up with a lot more happiness and energy, then previously.  The benefits 100% outnumber the negatives of eating like shit.

When you eat crap you feel like crap. It’s honestly the simplest piece of common sense in this entire world, but hard to execute endlessly at times.

I have to understand that I just can’t have “one bite”.  I can’t just eat “bad” today and not tomorrow.  I have to seriously get it together, and understand taht a bit of something that is processed is disastrous!

So cheers to clean, wholesome eating!  I can’t wait to update everyone with weight loss and health results.

Calorie Restriction Optimal Nutrition, Day 3, 4, 5. 4.6lb weight loss.

The weight is dropping, after a full day of CRON, I weighed in the following morning at 164.6lbs.  This morning, I weighed in at 160lbs.

10/3/2016 160
10/2/2016 161.2
10/1/2016 161.8
9/30/2016 162.2
9/29/2016 164.6

The first week of any diet, or diet lifestyle change, will elicit the most weight loss.  My body was used to all and lots of food (for most days of the month), and now it’s getting highly nutritious, healthy, natrual, raw, and naturally fat-free food.

The food I ate on Friday, Saturday, Sunday included the below:

hard boiled eggs
coffee, some of it with regular half&half
fried eggs (over easy, fried in oil)
ball park beef, nitrate free hot-dog
kombucha
avocado
grapes
baby spinach
banana
pear
broccoli (steamed)
salmon
turmeric
tomato
cucumber
apple
cantaloupe
baby carrots

I had breakfast at my mom’s house yesterday, and she made me two fried eggs, over easy.  Along with this I ate a Ball Park nitrate free hot dog (160kcals).  I was experiencing some really painful symptoms of detox that I wrote about here, that when she presented me with this grub, I did not hesitate, but did lower the portion size significantly over what I would have had previously!  Just two eggs, and 1 hot dog.

Other than that – I ate fruit, raw veggies each day.  I was never hungry and my calories stayed low.

On Friday I ate 1164kcals, on Saturday I ate 1245kcals and yesterday (Sunday) I ate 1060kcals.  My cravings for sugar have completely disappeared.  Because I have not been eating any salad dressings, or dips, or anything processed, I feel like my appetite, and hunger have stayed away.  I am eating everything incredibly clean and wholesome.

Both Friday and Saturday night I made myself a bowl of broccoli, raw tomato and salmon, sprinkled with turmeric.  The salmon I pan seared in an inch of water.  With a lid on, this almost steamed my salmon, and did not burn any of it.  The clean up was also easy!  The whole meal was quite lovely!

I steamed the broccoli, and it turned out really great.  My children who usually like broccoli didn’t love it thought.  It was a bit bitter, but perhaps this was because it wasn’t coated in a sugary dressing, and also it was fresh – versus frozen.  The step of the broccoli which I usually don’t care for – was awesome.  It was thick, and filling.

My favorite meal of the weekend came yesterday for lunch.  I made a bowl of spinach, grapes, cucumber and avocado!  I put it in a closed Tupperware-like container and kept shaking it until the avocado coated the spinach, veggies and cucumber.  Since I’m not eating store bought dressing – this was perfect.  The grapes gave each bite so much juice, crisp and flavor!

Calorie Restriction, Optimal Nutrition – Day 2, 1083kcals

What, another day, and 1081kcals!?!  Because I’m eating ONLY nutritious foods – I went to bed feeling extremely satisfied yesterday.

I started off my day with warm water & lemon juice from a fresh lemon, and I woke up around 5am.

I then came to work and drank a black coffee, and a raspberry leaf hot tea (two cups) at around 8am.

For breakfast at around 930am, I had two hard boiled organic eggs & 100g of baby carrots (35kcals for the carrots).

I then had two apples, on my way to the grocery store at noon.  I spent a bit of my lunch shopping for more raw goodies at the grocery store.  I want to be prepared.  This diet/lifestyle requires fresh food to be available all of the time.  I don’t want to get stuck “not having fresh grub” and choosing something processed instead.
Also, because I’ve improved my diet 100% by eating mostly fresh fruit, veggies, I want the same for my kids.  I purchased more strawberries, cucumbers, pears – all of which they ate up for dinner last night.

At the store, I drank a Kombucha.  Usually I would pick a flavor of Mango or Cranberry, but this time, I turned each one around, and found one for the least calories.  Turns out – the original one had a total of 60kcals for the whole bottle.  I absolutely love Kombucha.  This brand is my favorite, and my financial goal in life is to become so financially free, that I can enjoy one per day – without financial guilt.  That’s not asking for that much! 🙂  At $3.29 a bottle, it is a luxury right now.  I allow myself to get one, each time I shop – especially for HEALTHY GRUB!  I buy one for my sweet honey bunny too – he loves Kombucha just like me!

For lunch, I ate my greens, with grapes.  This is the ONLY thing I didn’t look forward to. I’m not a fan of eating dry greens.  I really have to figure out how to make them taste better, but not by adding fake fat or sugar (like salad dressings and such).  I ate them with the grapes, which made it better.  But today, I’m feeling the hunger, so I’m assuming they will go down a bit easier.  Get in my belly you awesome green nutrients!  Amazing that it took me the longest to eat 10kcals of food!

About 2 hours after lunch, I dove into half the avocado that I purchased the previous day!  It was ripe and ready for slicing!  I didn’t have my food scale with me, but I googled that half a Hass avocado is about 110-130kcals.  This guy was on the smaller side, but full of deliciousness, and nutrition.  I’m going to avoid “added fat” in oils, but I will eat avocado!  It’s so good for the brain, the bod, and filling up.

(Later last night I made my son a strawberry, almond milk, avocado & Greek yogurt smoothie before bed!  It was so thick and filling, and exactly what my naturally thin little boo needed right before bed!)

Before I left for the day, I ate some cut up cucumber and a banana!

Once I got home, I made 144g of salmon.  After I cooked it, I put it on the scale, but I can’t remember if it was 114g or 144g of salmon.  I was so hungry, that my short term memory completely failed me!  I added 144g into the Cron-O-Meter, just to be on the safe side.  I also sprinkled some turmeric on the salmon.  At first this spice is a bit offending.  But once it sits on the food for a minute or so, it blends in so nicely!  It was the first time I cooked the salmon without any added oil.  I actually put it in a little pan, and added some water.  The water helped cook/steam it, without burning any parts of it.

This is part/later part of my food diary from yesterday.

I slept mostly well.  My son did wake me up at 1230am, and tell me he had a nightmare.  I laid down in his twin bed with him, and when I saw his eyes still open, I asked him about his dream.  He said, “Zombies were coming to the table, and eating all of the food.”  My poor sweet almost five year old boy, dreaming of such stuff!  Once he settled down a bit, I went back to bed, but I couldn’t get back to sleep!  I ended up fishing Gone Girl, and finally getting back down.

The scale this morning read 162.2lbs.  This is down from 164.6lbs from the previous day.  Mama is heading toward 139!

Thank you to everyone who has written about CRON, practice it, put information out there about it – all helpful in my own pursuit of great health, and physical and mental stealth.

Calorie Restriction Optimal Nutrition – Day 1 – getting started!

Breakfast:

carrots – 100g for 35kcal
2 hard boiled eggs -101g for 157kcal

I made the hard boiled eggs this morning.  It’s the only animal protein I have had all day. The carrots were nice & crunchy, and since they are higher in sugar than other veggies, I thought they were a nice combo with the eggs, which are full of protein & fat.

AM Snack:
apple – 138g for 72kcal

At lunch, I headed to our local Farmer’s Market, and ended up buying some super healthy grub that I needed to get me through the day.

I purchased:

3 cucumbers
pear
greens
bananas
grapefruit
tomato
avocado
grapes
strawberries

(The total for everything $15 & change.)

Lunch:

greens – 61g for 11kcal
grapes – 371g for 256
tomato – 154g for 28kcal

Because I’m staying away from salad dressings I needed something juicy to eat with the greens.  If I really had to do it – I would eat the greens dry, and without anything else, but the grapes gave each bite some nice chomp, and lots of juice.  Add to this the tomato, and it was all just fine.  Did this taste like a Wendy’s chicken sandwich with chili fries?  No.  Honestly matters.

I also wanted to eat the grapefruit.  But as soon as I cut it open, it was so dry, and past it’s best days.  I am not a fan of tossing food, but sometimes we do buy something bogus.  No big deal, moving on, and enjoying eating.

I am unfortunately suffering from a headache today. Not because of the healthy grub I’ve been consuming all day, but because I thought skipping my morning black coffee was a great idea.  Until this headache starting coming on around 11am.  I quickly made a cup, but it was too late. Right now my whole head is throbbing, and my neck hurts.  But no big deal again! The only time I was ever able to successfully skip coffee, was when I replaced it with green juice.  Juicing spinach/kale, carrot, apple, or any other veggies, has been the only way to avoid a headache.  It’s slowly starting to go away, and I’m staying strong. But I am never doing that again – especially on a work day.

PM Snack:

banana x 2 – 261g for 233kcal

I’m not really hungry for the bananas right now, but it’s almost time to go home, and I don’t want to get hit with ravaging hunger when I get home.  Instead, I want to continue to make good decisions about dinner.  I’m most excited to cut up the strawberries, cucumber and grapes I bought today for my kids!  Their pre-din din/dinner or dessert awaits!

I’m heading home with a total of 796kcals consumed.  I do know today is “easy” because today is Day 1 and I am not yet hungry.  Let’s see how tonight & tomorrow goes.

Cheers to staying positive, and eating less for optimal health!

Another amazing day of eating Whole30!

Breakfast:
warm water w/slice of lemon *I cut up a lemon or two, and put in the freezer, each morning I make warm water, and add a slice of frozen lemon, then squeeze it out for the juice.*
coffee, black
tuna fish w/ hot sauce

Lunch:
banana x 2
3 hard boiled eggs w/hot sauce
1 big spoon of organic peanut butter (just nuts & salt)
tea

Dinner:
apple
grapes
glass of white wine w/ice

Last night for din din, I made the kids grilled cheese potato buns (in a waffle maker) which come out so lovely & delicious, and then meatballs in organic marinara (from Aldi).  They ate it up.  I also started de-thawing shrimp (which I was making for myself), but then we ended up taking a walk to visit my mom.  When we got to her place, she had so many grapes out, and cheese, and crackers and salami.  The kids and I had so many lovely, delicious, hard and juicy grapes and we loved them all.  I also had a small glass of white wine in lots of ice, to celebrate her new home (which is walking distance of our home, yay!)

The actual miles walked was about 2, and I pushed the stroller half the time.  It was awesome exercise and a great way to end a summer day.  The weather is absolute perfection lately!  By the time we got home, it was too late to eat shrimp, so I was happy and satisfied with just a glass of cold seltzer water, and the previous grapes and apple I had.

I started off the day yesterday with my 10 minute bike ride on my stationary bike, and ended it with a 2 mile walk.  Fitting in this exercise while being a busy working mama & wife is no easy FEAT, but I’m going to look for more and more opportunities to fit in exercise anywhere and anytime I see it.  When we look for opportunities to work out – we will find them.  When we look for excuses to NOT work out – we will find them.  It’s not going to be perfection each and every day, but I sense more positive days, then negative ahead.

I slept amazingly well, again!

Cheers to staying UBER motivated in all of our health & fitness goals.  1 day at a time.

100% Whole30 Compliant! Down to 159lbs (again)!

Yesterday’s Grub:

breakfast:
warm water w/lemon slice
coffee, black
tuna fish w/hot sauce
cherry tomatoes

lunch:
tuna fish w/hot sauce
3 hard boiled eggs w/hot sauce

dinner & snacks:
peach x 2
banana x 2
apple
watermelon

I also drank a lot of tea, and a lot of water.  I’m certainly staying hydrated.  It’s so easy to forget to stay hydrated, because when we get thirsty we feel we are hungry, when in fact, we are many times just dehydrated.  When we’re full of water/tea, and still hunger, then it’s the best time to eat.  I have to remember this each & every day.

I slept sooo well again!  (Mostly because my daughter slept from 8pm-7am), but still, so well!  I can’t help but feel absolutely grateful to be back and 100% compliant with the Whole30 meal plan.  It’s easy to VEER off, but it’s more important to stay on track.  When I’m compliant, I’m 100% ready to rock and roll, and the cravings DISAPPEAR!!!

This morning I woke up and I got on my Schwinn Airdyne bike for a 10 minute ride.  I then baked chicken for my husband and kids.  I baked the chicken in BBQ sauce, and instead of having some, I will pass.  I know this BBQ sauce is made with a bit of sugar, and therefore will give me cravings.  I’ll stick to hard boiled eggs with hot sauce and cherry tomatoes for lunch instead.

The scale this morning was back down to 159, and this was also after my workout, and after I drank my morning water w/lemon!  Maybe tomorrow we’ll see 158lbs!!!  I’m psyched and determined to get to 139lbs, one pound at a time.  I’m also pretty excited to prioritize exercise, or actually take opportunities that I find for free time, and use them for exercise.  This morning is a perfect example of this.  We woke up at 515am, and instead of just hanging, I jumped right on the bike!  Boom boom.  Get it, when the getting is hot.

Stay Uber Motivated, in all you do and all you want.

Back to 100% Clean Eating

Back to clean, 100%.

I am a rule stretcher.  Not exactly a rule breaker, but a rule stretcher.

And I love Whole30, but I also love regular salad dressing, and peanuts, and feta cheese and other non-Whole30 compliant grub.  And you know where that landed me?   In the vicious cycle of cravings, and binge eating, and back on track, and cravings and binge eating, and ice-cream and back on track, and the endless roller coaster that too many of us are too familiar with.  And well, it’s time to get back on track, 100% compliant with Whole30, as per their rules.

Yesterday, since it was August 1st, I figured it was the PERFECT day to get back into the hustle.  It sucks starting back up over and over again in healthy & clean eating, but I do refuse to QUIT.  I’m always going to keep trying and trying and starting over again, if I have to!  I’m never giving up my quest for great health, and the best life possible.

Yesterday:
black coffee, no creamer
chicken (off a rotisserie chicken), with hot sauce
romaine, cashew, carrot, sesame seed, chicken breast – salad
/w hot sauce (threw the dressing that came w/ the salad away)
edemame
tea x 2, and lots of water

Because it was Day 1, I was not hungry.  Instead, I was PSYCHED to have had such a healthy & clean day of eating.  We walked to the park with the kids after work, and I ran two laps around the whole play area.  I certainly need to move my body more, and fitting in exercise at the same time/same place is just not possible each day.  But what is possible, is getting moving when the opportunity presents itself!  So here we go!

I slept so well (and so did my lil gal, which helps!), and it was awesome to not wake up, not even once during the night.  The scale is back down to 160lbs, and I’m psyched to go after my goal of 139lbs.

If the mind can believe it, the body can achieve it.
